More than headshots: A morning of laughter, connection & joy
Having your picture taken can feel scary.
I get it.
There’s something about standing in front of a camera that can suddenly make us wonder what to do with our hands, how to smile, where to look, and whether we’re doing any of it “right.” But I don’t think a photo session has to feel that way.
My morning with Helena was such a beautiful reminder of that.
We spent the morning outside in nature here in Sarasota, talking, laughing, wandering around, and taking photos along the way. There was great conversation, connection, so much laughter, and that wonderful kind of joy that happens when you stop worrying quite so much about the camera.
And somewhere in between all of that, we captured Helena.
Not a perfectly posed version of her. HER.
Her warmth. Her beautiful smile. Her light. Her joy.
That is what I love most about photography.
I want a photo session to feel less like performing for a camera and more like spending time together. We’ll talk. We’ll laugh. We’ll move around. I’ll help you when you have absolutely no idea what to do with your hands. Ha, ha, I so get it… Been there, done that…
And little by little, hopefully you’ll forget that having your picture taken was something you were nervous about in the first place.
Because the best photos, to me, are the ones where you can actually see YOU in them.
Helena, it was such an honor to spend this morning with you. Keep shining your beautiful light, my friend. You are such a gift.
If you’ve been putting off having new photos taken because being in front of the camera makes you nervous, I would love to make it a different kind of experience for you.
I offer relaxed, joy-filled headshot and photography sessions in Sarasota, Florida. Come as you are. We’ll take it from there.
